Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School Blog: Take Charge

On Wednesday, August 29, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School broke ground on their $5.5M re-imagination of their historic building for the visual and performing arts, the Barn. As a result of CH-CH's Building Creativity Campaign, the School will add 9,000 square feet, including a new theater, new music classroom space, expanded state-of-the-art studio spaces, and a glass atrium gallery, creating a 22,000 square foot center for the arts.

How many times have you gotten nervous about something... anything, and said to yourself with a cautious chuckle, "Never mind, I'll just worry about it later."? If you nodded your head while reading that last bit, then you've come to the right place. It's easy to put off those things that scare us, but inevitably, it just makes the end result that much harder. Entering a new school can be one of those things that makes us nervous, but I've put together three tips to help start your school year strong! 

Since joining the CH-CH community in the fall of 2012, Julia Woodward has made a big impact on campus. From teaching English and Skills and Academic Support to coaching soccer and ultimate frisbee, even having the yearbook dedicated in her honor. Outside of the CH-CH campus, Julia has volunteered her time to educate inmates in maximum-security prisons. Experiences both inside and out of the classroom are a constant reminder to Julia of how rewarding and life-changing the role of a teaching can be.

Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall's Director of College Counseling, Brooke Fincke, has counseled over 500 students through the college admission process, and has put together a comprehensive list of the entire college process, from the first day of 11th grade to graduation, in easy-to-follow steps:

As technology advances, so does the way in which we learn. Over the years, I've discovered so many apps that have helped my students succeed in the classroom. Whether you'd like to improve the way you take notes, prepare for a quiz, or collaborate with others, there are apps that help make it easy. Here are a few of my favorites you should try before the new school year starts.

Inspired by her Mom's diagnosis with Parkinson's, Diana Levine '03 hosts an annual charity event called Photo Shoot for a Cure, which has raised over $80,000 to date for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The one-night event brings together photographers, stylists, artists, and creatives from all around New England for one purpose: to find a cure for Parkinson's disease. 

 On Saturday, June 2nd, Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School recognized the forty-one graduates of the Class of 2018 in its 190th commencement ceremony. Student speakers included Valedictorian Jiawen Li and Salutatorian Hangyu Li, each delivering an inspirational speech to their classmates.

On April 20th, students at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School walked out of class to take a stand with the March for Our Lives and #NeverAgain movements. This student-led walkout was organized by Amy Russell ‘18, and it displayed the power and determination that these students have in changing the world.
